Events in July
1. Certaldo Alto – Mercantia
Between the 12th and 16th of July there will be a colourful extravaganza on the streets of Florence. Street artists will adorn the small Florentine roads with artwork, costume designs will be shocking, theatre performances, and culture will be within everyone’s sight. A street theatre festival, and one of the best in the whole of Europe. Location: Certaldo, a small-ish town in Tuscany not more than 1 hour 30 from Florence.
2. Vinci – Festa Dell’ Unicorno
The Festival of the Unicorn will be getting started on the 21st of July, leaving everyone with a sense of lungful lust for multiple days of magical arts, elf weddings and parades once again. This is a fantasy festival like no other, with 8 different themed areas, international guests, markets. If you’re into cosplay and alternate fantasy worlds, this backdrop of another Tuscan village is more than likely to give you your escapist fix.
3.Piazza Santa Croce, Florence – The Enchanted Piazza
June 28th, starting from 8:30pm, the beautiful Santa Croce square is the backdrop for an evening of up to 500 musicians performing their hearts out. Orchestras, and choirs paying homage to such composers as Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. Demand is high, but entrance is free.
