Things to do in Florence – May PART I
May is upon us, and here we have 5 things, 5 recommendations for you. If you happen to be in the city during this particularly wonderful month of the year, then have a read of this post and you might find a little something, or some event that peaks your interest and allows you to enjoy yourself that little bit extra in Florence.
1 – Florence Creativity
Located at the Fortezza da Basso from 9:30 in the morning to 7 in the evening, the 8th consequent year of the creative festival ‘Florence Creativity’ will be taking place. Described as an event that ‘enriches creativity enthusiasts’, the event mostly is focussed on hand-crafts and creating things for domestic life: ‘patchwork and quilting, fabrics and yarns’. On Thursday – the opening day – you can grab 2 tickets for the price of 1, and full-priced tickets cost 10 Euro
2 – The Sounds of Europe
Seven concerts are taking place over three months, starting in March as a series exclusive to Florence, which will celebrate the diversity that comprises all of the ‘Sounds of Europe’. The 6th of May will mark the 5th concert of this series as the Orchestra Cupiditas will be kicking off the concerts in May at 13:00. On the 18th and 26th of May, you have the Datura Brassle Murate and the Spanish guitar sounds of Gabriele Putzulu, respectively.
3 – Free Museums
The 7th of May marks the first Sunday of the month. This means that many of the museums in Florence will be free to enter for the full day. Make sure to wake up early as the queues enlarge significantly due to this fact. Organise an itinerary for the day, and you will be fine.
