LIBERATION DAY

April 25th is a national holiday in Italy that commemorates the end of the fascist regime and of the occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II and the victory of the the Resistance in Italy.

It is a fundamental day in the history of Italy and it has a particular political and military significance, as a symbol of the victorious struggle of military and political resistance during World War II.

Every year in all Italian cities – especially those decorated with military valor for the national libertaion – public events are organized in memory of this event.

Despite the restrictions caused by the COVID pandemic, Tuscany remembers April 25th with official celebrations, first of all online.

It is a day, even if this year we celebrate it in a virtual way, that reminds us that freedom is not a gift obtained easily, but conquest achieved through struggle and sacrifice, a collective heritage to be guarded and maintained for our children.
